Abstract: This research explores how domestic violence is explainedon a culturally
specified theoretical basis. Two Confucian societies were identified-Taiwan and
Korea. Data were collected from official sources of the two countries of ten years,
the length of the time the woman protection laws appeared in the two targeted
societies. Findings indicate that domestic violence becomes unexplainable when
culture is transformed following the evolution of national wealth and political
democratization as is in the case of Taiwan. In contrast, Korea maintained its
tradition having gone through the same track of change, and the theory of
    Confucianism orientation was concluded.
