    Abstract: 本文係筆者計劃寫作的《左傳的研究‧源流篇》的第四章。有清一代，考據盛行，疑古風熾。或謂《左氏》乃劉歆附益改竄，或謂《左氏》由《國語》 割裂而成。本文試圖由《國語》之概述，說明從來對《國語》之名稱、作者與本質認知上之歧見，進而分析《左》、《國》二書是否同一作者，二書是否由一書化分，以及二書成書先後的問題。最後則以史學家取材之限制與標準，認為左丘明傳《春秋》，必受許多限制，為補苴罅漏，左氏將其所搜集之資料，輯為《國語》，乃極為合理之事。
