摘要: This research focused on the main causes of broken marriages between Vietnamese women and Taiwanese men. The researcher used qualitative methods in this study and collected data from in-depth individual interviews and village observations. The research investigates various relationship situations – in which marriages begin in Taiwan and couples relocate to Vietnam; Vietnamese women are living in Taiwan and whose visas have been or have not yet been approved by Taiwanese immigration officials; and Vietnamese women who return to their homeland alone after their broken marriages. This research focused on the perspectives of Taiwanese men and Vietnamese women, and how it affects their lives. In order to be flexible, purposeful and snowball sampling techniques were used in recruitment. The findings of this research can provide the basis for raising awareness to all parties involved, including the governments of both countries. The findings support the policy of marriage migration from both Taiwan and Vietnam Governments. Finally, this research is useful as reference to other researchers who want to study foreign marriage in Taiwan.
