    题名: The Effect of Native English-speaking Teachers on EFL Students’ Achievements in Speaking Skills

    摘要: Speaking English fluently gets students to open up more opportunities for better academic performance, confidence and career prospects. The study investigated the effect of native English-speaking teachers on students’ speaking achievements. There were 46 freshman students participated in the study and the student participants possessed similar language proficiency levels. Questionnaire and test were used as instruments to gather the data from the students about their achievements, attitudes, and experiences. The study chose 60 points as the minimum acceptable quality score. The findings revealed that 23% students in the study received their scores as fail. 59% of those surveyed felt that native speaker teachers lead would lead to better word choice and pronunciation improvements. 56% of the students were motivated in learning. The students with higher test scores had better confidence in word choices than in speaking skills while the students with lower test scores were more willing to speak in public without hesitation and resulted in better speaking improvements. The results showed that the students who were exposed to native speaker teacher had more positive attitudes toward speaking in public and better improvements in speaking skills. The study suggested the effect of native English speaking teachers created a better learning environment for native language learning with more accurate uses of target language.
